The currency of Myanmar is the Kyat (K), and can be found
in Banknote denominations of k 1, k 5, k 10, k 20, k 50, k 100, k 200, k 500, k
1,000, k 5,000 and k 10,000.
The US Dollar is also widely accepted throughout Myanmar.
Although the situation is improving rapidly, Travellers Cheques are not yet
widely accepted and, as yet, paying by Credit Card is only an option in major
tourist locations in upmarket restaurants and hotels.
ATM’s are also thin on the ground.
