Soft Adventure in Laos 13 Days

TOUR PROGRAMME

Day 1:
After crossing the Mekong River from Thailand, your Laotian guide will greet you and drive you through the countryside to Luang Namtha.
Day 2:
Today, you’ll travel to the Lanten village of Ban Namleu to begin your six hour trek through the hilly forested countryside to Ban Nalan Tai, on the banks of the Nam Ha River, where you’ll spend the night.
Day 3:
A five hour trek following the course of the Nam Ha River breaks for a forest picnic before a bamboo raft crossing into the Nam Ha National Protected Area, passing through its primary forest and looking for wildlife. For your return to Luang Namtha, you’ll have a choice of motor boat or pick-up truck.
Day 4:
Today, after an instruction briefing, you’ll kayak the waters of the Nam Tha River, paddling through the forest and riding its rapids down to the confluence with the Nam Ha River.
Day 5:
In the morning, you’ll be driven through mountain scenery to Pakbeng and your next hotel.
Day 6:
Today, your drive will take you through unspoilt forests and local villages to visit Pak Ou Cave, and its ensemble of Buddha images, before travelling on to Luang Prabang, once a Laotian capital.
Day 7:
An early rise will find you on the streets for the famous ritual alms-giving procession, before breakfast and mounting your bicycle for your pedal into the surrounding countryside to the Lao Spirit Eco Resort for your stay, with stops at Wat Phon Phou and Ban Phanom weaving village.
Day 8:
In the morning you’ll have an hour of elephant trekking through the forest and up the Nam Khan River to the beautiful cascades of Tad Sae waterfalls and a cooling dip. After lunch, you’ll have a 2-3 hour trek, visiting a Khmu ethnic minority village to imbibe the local culture and onward along steep slopes to the jungle camp, before returning to the elephant camp and back to the Spirit Resort.
Day 9:
Awakening to the sound of elephants bathing outside your bungalow, you’ll enjoy breakfast before your choice of rafting or kayaking the leisurely river to Luang Prabang, and your hotel.
Day 10:
In the morning, you’ll catch the flight southward to Pakse, where you’ll be met and driven to your next accommodation at the Kingfisher Ecolodge.
Day 11:
Today you’ll discover the art of elephant mastery with a four hour course at the Laos Elephant Riding School, followed by an elephant trek up Phou Asa Mountain.
Day 12:
Your morning will be free to enjoy your surroundings in your own style, before a visit to the impressively powerful waterfall of Khone Phapeng. Later you’ll be driven to visit the Khmer era temple Wat Phou on your return to Pakse, where you’ll spend the night.
Day 13:
In the morning, you’ll fly from Pakse to Vientiane for your onward connection or departure flight.
