Summer holiday in Laos 5 Days

TOUR PROGRAMME

Day 1:
Upon arriving Vientiane, your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel for check in. The remainder of the day you will be free, and you’ll spend the night in Vientiane.
Day 2:
After breakfast, visit Wat Sisaket, the city's oldest temple. Dating back to 1818, Wat Sisaket is the most important heritage temple now standing in Laos. It houses thousands of Buddha images from many countries, long lost architectural styles, sculptures and paintings. Then visit Wat Prakeo, the former royal temple of the Lao monarchy and originally built in 1565, it is home to the Emerald Buddha image and many other Buddhist sculptures. Later, on the way to the famous and sacred That Luang Stupa, stop to view the imposing Patuxay Monument, Vientiane's own Arc de Triomphe. In the afternoon, you will take a short drive out of the city to visit Buddha Park, a riverside park which is home to many Buddhist and Hindu sculptures. Return to the Mekong Riverside in Vientiane by late afternoon to enjoy the sunset, before transferring back to the airport for your short flight to Luang Prabang. On arrival in Luang Prabang, your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel for check-in. You’ll spend the night in Luang Prabang.
Day 3:
After breakfast, visit the Royal Palace Museum which hosts a range of interesting artefacts and a guided audio tour. Then begin your temple tour, taking in some the city’s most beautiful, including the magnificent Wat Xiengthong, with its roofs sweeping low to the ground in the classical Luang Prabang style, and Wat Visoun, known as ‘The Water Melon Stupa’ due to its shape. Before lunch, you will have the chance to visit a silversmith workshop. In the afternoon, drive out of the town, where you may make an optional visit to Khmu, Hmong and Lao Loum villages, representing the main ethnic groups of Laos. Then continue to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the pools or walk along the forest trails. Return to Luang Prabang by early evening to enjoy a sunset view over the Mekong. You’ll spend the night in Luang Prabang.
Day 4:
Today, embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, first stopping at Xiengmene to visit Wat Long Khun and the limestone cave Tham Sakkarin, and tour the village. After a picnic lunch, continue by boat up the Mekong amidst tranquil countryside, then take some time to explore the Pak Ou Caves, crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims. You’ll also stop by Ban Xanghai Village, known locally for making rice wine. On your return, drive to visit Ban Phanom, a small village known for its hand weaving products, and spend the night in Luang Prabang.
Day 5:
Today you will have free time until your driver arrives to transfer you to the airport for your departing flight.
