TOUR PROGRAMME

Day 1:
Upon arrival at Beijing Airport, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel.
Day 2:
Today, you’ll explore the cultural and historic highlights of China’s great capital, beginning with the vast Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Later, you’ll visit the Treasure house, home to a valuable collection of Qing Dynasty antiquities and get a flavour of backstreet Beijing, with a rickshaw tour of a traditional Hutong, passing through its ancient alleyways and visiting a local family in their courtyard house.
Day 3:
This morning, you’ll visit the iconic ‘Temple of Heaven’ one of China’s most famous buildings, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you wish, you can also take part in a Tai Chi lesson in these hallowed surroundings. After lunch you’ll travel to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China. The gondola ride will spares you the trudge up over 4,000 steps to explore this world wonder, its watchtowers and views.
Day 4:
In the morning, you’ll be taken to visit the site of the Beijing Olympics, featuring its iconic structures such as the Birds Nest Stadium and Water Cube. Later, you’ll visit the grounds of the Summer Palace to wander the famous imperial gardens and a cruise upon its lake. In the afternoon, you’ll be taken to the airport for your flight to Xi'an and your next hotel.
Day 5:
Today, you’ll have an exploration of the site of the world famous Terracotta Warriors, viewing the vast ancient army and discovering the background to the excavations. Later, you’ll visit the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda and the Xi'an Imperial Fine Arts Museum.
Day 6:
This morning, you’ll have a bicycle tour of Xi'an’s impressive city wall, followed by lunch and a visit to Shaanxi History Museum, before catching the flight to Shanghai and your hotel.
Day 7:
Today, you’ll explore China’s temple to modernity, a towering city aspiring to ever greater heights every day. You’ll have an elevated 474 metre (1,555 feet) city view from the observation deck of the Shanghai World Financial Centre, before viewing the plans for the city’s ambitious future. You’ll then step back in time to the Ming Dynasty Yuyuan Garden and the preserved historic European waterfront.
Day 8:
Your time will be free until your driver takes you to the airport for your onward or departure flight.
