There are a number of mountain biking trails in northern Thailand around Chiang Dao, famous for its challenging downhills, Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai, ranging in various levels of difficulty from relaxing to arduous, typically of durations from one to three days, travelling among the villages, forests, rivers and caves of the region, which can also be strung together to make for a longer biking holiday. Specifically desired elements of these areas, suited to your abilities can also be woven with other types of activity and transportation.

Road cycle tours from four to ten days, travelling from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai, and taking in the villages and lifestyles of ethnic Karen, Lahu, H’mong, Lisu, Akha and Mien peoples, are a delightful way to experience the cultures and scenery of the north.

If you want to cycle longer distances, the ride from Chiang Mai to Bangkok covers 925 kilometres and takes you through the historic sites of Lampang, Sukhothai and Ayutthaya before arriving in the capital, typically taking around eight days.

Vehicle assisted variants can also take in these destinations within a shorter timeframe and reduced cycling distances, opening up these historic areas for more gentle cycling tours.

From the Capital, a number of short cycling trips will take you to sites such as Ayutthaya and Kanchanaburi.

Travelling south of Bangkok, the route to Phuket covers a distance of 850 kilometres, pedalling along the shores of the gulf of Thailand before crossing the peninsula to the Indian Ocean and the beaches of Thailand’s west coast playground.
