Head for Halong Bay and board your cruise boat to enjoy the bay’s fascinating caves, picturesque floating villages, and fantastic rock formations rising up out of emerald waters.

Day 4:
Awake in the fresh air of the bay for a Tai Chi session on your cruise sundeck, full breakfast and a Vietnamese traditional tea ceremony. Cruise back to the dock and disembark, then return to Hanoi where you’ll have the rest of the day to explore at your leisure.

Today visit several famed artisan villages on the Red River Delta outside Hanoi. In Bat Trang, view time-honoured pottery production techniques, see wood-print paintings in Dong Ho, enjoy a performance of Quan Ho music in Tam Tao, and in Dong Ky meet a family producing mother-of-pearl inlaid furniture. Catch an evening flight to Hue where you will spend the night.

Cruise the Perfume River to the Thien Mu Pagoda, then drive to visit the royal tomb compounds of Emperor Minh Mang and Emperor Khai Dinh. In the afternoon head back to Hue and explore the grounds of the imperial citadel, and stop by bustling Dong Ba Market before you retire for the night.

Day 7:
Drive south to Danang, crossing Hai Van Pass on the way, where – with good weather – you have excellent views over the coast in both directions. Pause to view the remarkable Hindu statuary at the Cham Museum in Danang, then continue to Hoi An for a guided tour of the old town before settling in for the night.

Day 8:

Day 10:
Another free day to enjoy Hoi An and its environs.

Day 11:
Fly from Danang to Ho Chi Minh City, where your guide will meet you and take you for a tour of the war-era maze of underground passages known as Cu Chi Tunnels. Returning to Ho Chi Minh City centre, you will have the remainder of the day free to explore.

Today drive out of the city into the Mekong Delta. Board a river cruise to experience this iconic landscape, pausing to visit orchards, take a rowboat through the criss-crossing maze of the Mekong’s channels, visit locals and enjoy traditional music, then drive on to Can Tho City, viewing an ancient Khmer pagoda before retiring for the night.

Day 14:
Take a morning boat cruise to experience one of the iconic sights of the Mekong Delta; Cai Rang floating market. Later, your driver will return you directly to Ho Chi Minh City airport for your flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia, where you’ll be welcomed and transferred to your hotel for the night.

Day 15:
Today explore the Temples of Angkor. At Angkor Thom, visit the Bayon, the Elephant and Leper King Terraces, followed by the Baphuon Temple and the jungle-strangled Ta Prohm. In the afternoon, explore Angkor Wat itself, the largest and most impressive temple in the complex. In the evening, relax with a welcome dinner while enjoying a traditional Apsara dance show.

Visit a market, settle into the gentle pace of an ox cart ride, join a local family for lunch, and explore the area by foot. In the evening attend a performance of ‘Phare, the Cambodian Circus’. An inspiring show for all ages, this hour long spectacle mixes theatre, music, dance, acrobatics, juggling and contortion to present a story about Cambodian lives and society.
