Day 1:
Arriving at Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel, with time to settle in before a performance of traditional water puppetry and a welcome dinner.
Day 2:
In the morning, you’ll have a cyclo tour of the streets of Vietnam’s capital city visiting the Temple of Literature and Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, before exploring the street food eateries of Tong Duy Tan and sampling local wine in Cam Chi Street. In the afternoon, you’ll have an electric car ride around West Lake and visit Noon Restaurant, to sample dishes from around the country. In the evening, you’ll have a beer tour of the city, trying out the wide selection of local brews.
Day 3:
This morning, you’ll be driven to Hoa Lu, a former capital to visit the three caves of Tam Coc. An afternoon cycle will take your through the lush green fields to visit Ninh Van stone carving village and Ninh Hai lace embroidery village to appreciate these highly skilled crafts. You’ll stay overnight in Ninh Binh.
Day 4:
Today, you’ll travel to Thai Binh, an important area of rice production, to visit Dong Xam silver village, to see the skills honed by silversmiths over generations from the 17th century. Later, you’ll depart for your cruise of Ha Long Bay aboard a wooden Junk, to enjoy the features of this natural wonder and enjoy a swim. You’ll have a cookery class on board.
Day 5:
Your cruise continues, exploring a floating village and visiting a pearl farm. After disembarking at around noon, you’ll travel back to Hanoi, with a stop at Phu Lang pottery village and try your hand at making their high quality ceramics. Arriving in Hanoi, you’ll have time to relax before catching the overnight sleeper train to Lao Cai.
Day 6:
Arriving in the early morning, you’ll be met and driven through the mountains and sculptured rice fields to the upland town of Sapa, close to Mount Fansipan, Vietnam’s highest peak, an area which is home to the traditional highland lifestyles of many of the country’s colourful ethnic minorities. After check-in and breakfast, you’ll be driven to Phin Village, to learn the Red Dao embroidery techniques and meet the people.
Day 7:
This morning, you’ll travel back to Lao Cai to visit a local market, frequented by many of the surrounding minorities to display their wares and exchange gossip. After a picnic lunch, you’ll have a room with a shower to relax and freshen up before boarding the overnight sleeper train back to Hanoi.
Day 8:
Arriving early in the morning, you’ll be taken to a mini hotel for a freshen-up and breakfast before being driven to the airport for your flight to Da Nang. Upon arrival, you’l be driven to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Hoi An and check-in to your hotel.
Day 9:
This morning, you’ll have a motorbike tour to explore the local life of Hoi An, visiting a local market, a fishing village and craft villages. After lunch in the historic town, you’ll try your hand at making some of the local craft items, such as the iconic Hoi An lanterns or sea-grass hats.
Day 10:
After a free morning to enjoy the unique ambience of Hoi An, you’ll be driven to the airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City and your next hotel.
Day 11:
This morning you’ll head out of the city to My Thanh An, taking a boat trip along the Ben Tre River to explore the channels of the Mekong Delta before taking lunch in a local family orchard house. In the afternoon, you’ll have the opportunity to join the locals in their daily farming work, before enjoying a Xe Loi tricycle and boat rides around the area and spending the night with a local family.
Day 12:
In the morning, you’ll visit some of Ben Tre’s craft villages, before returning to Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 13:
This morning, you’ll have a cookery class at the Cookery Centre, visiting a local market to select ingredients, before preparing your Vietnamese dishes. After dining on your fare, your time will be free to spend in your own style.
Day 14:
Today, you’ll be driven to the airport for your onward or departure flight.
