Day 1:
Arriving at Bangkok Airport, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel for check-in, with time to relax and settle in before dining aboard a river cruise on the Chao Phraya River.
Day 2:
After breakfast, you’ll have a guided tour of the main attractions of the city, including the Flower Market, the Royal Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun. Other features of your day include a tuk-tuk ride around the historic area and a long-tail boat journey along the canals of the Chao Phraya River.
Day 3:
Today, you’ll travel beyond the city limits to the grand ancient capital, Ayutthaya, dating back to 1350 and abandoned following the 1767 Burmese invasion. Once the most culturally sophisticated and wealthy city of its era, and UNESCO World Heritage site, you’ll visit the remains of its most iconic structures. Later, you’ll visit the former Royal Summer Residence at nearby Bang Pa In, before cruising back to Bangkok on the Chao Phraya River.
Day 4:
In the morning, your driver will take you to the airport for your flight to the northern city of Chiang Rai, once the capital of the Lanna Kingdom, a contemporary of Ayutthaya. Upon arrival, you’ll visit Sop Ruak in the Golden Triangle and cruise the Mekong River to an artisan village on the border with Laos. A visit to the Opium Museum provides an insight into the trade that once ruled the region. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the ruins of the first Lanna Kingdom capital of Chiang Saen before returning to Chiang Rai.
Day 5:
After breakfast, a drive to the tea plantation at Santi Khiri is an opportunity to see several of the hill tribes that inhabit the region. Travelling on to Doi Tung, you’ll visit the winter residence of the Queen Mother and the splendid Lanna artefacts preserved in Mae Fah Luang Art and Culture Park, before continuing through the forested hills to Chiang Mai and check-in to your hotel. A traditional Kantoke Dinner and a visit to the night bazaar concludes the day.
Day 6:
Today, you’ll visit the Mae Sa Elephant Camp, to enjoy an elephant trek through the forest. Followed by a drive to Baan Tong Luang, where you’ll meet the local hill tribes and discover their ancestral traditions. After lunch in the village, a bamboo raft takes you along the river to an orchid farm, before returning to Chiang Mai.
Day 7:
In the morning, you’ll visit the handicraft villages of Borsang and Sankhampaeng, famed for their Silks, Wood carvings and silver work. Returning to Chiang Mai for lunch, you’ll visit the city’s most important temples, concluding with the stunning hilltop Doi Suthep, and the superb views I affords across the area.
Day 8:
Today, you’ll travel to the mountainous landscape of Pai, close to the border with Myanmar and check-in to your next hotel. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the Chinese village at Santichol.
Day 9:
In the morning you’ll visit the ‘Fish Cave’, an unusual beauty spot near Huay Pha on the drive to Mae Hong Son and your next hotel. After settling in, you’ll visit the town’s famous Burmese style monasteries, Wat Doi Kong Moo, Wat Jong Kham and Wat Jong Klang.
Day 10:
After breakfast, you’ll visit the hill tribe villages of the Karen and Padong peoples, the women of the latter famous for their custom of wearing brass rings around their necks. A long-tail boat ride of the Pai River gives passes scenes of rural life before travelling to the airport for the short flight back to Chiang Mai.
Day 11:
After breakfast, you’ll be driven to the airport for your flight to Krabi in southern Thailand and check-in to your beach hotel.
Day 12:
Your time is free at leisure to enjoy the beaches and stunning coast of Krabi or venture further into sculptural Phang Nha Bay and the islands beyond.
Day 13:
Your time is free at leisure to enjoy the beaches and stunning coast of Krabi or venture further into sculptural Phang Nha Bay and the islands beyond.
Day 14:
Your time will be free until your driver takes you to the airport for your flight to Bangkok and connection with your onward or departure flight.
