Day 1:
Arriving at Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel, with time to settle in before your welcome dinner.
Day 2:
Today, you’ll have the whole day to explore the sights and street life of Hanoi through the eye of your lens, capturing the bewildering variety of colourful scenes, subjects and happenings scaled and framed to your inner perception.
Day 3:
Today, you’ll get into the countryside of the Red River Delta to Duong Lam, a collection of six traditional villages to explore the imagery of verdant fields, pagodas, cottages and the characterful faces of the inhabitants. After lunch, you’ll visit Van Phuc silk village before returning to Hanoi. In the evening, you’ll be driven to the railway station to board the overnight sleeper train to Lao Cai.
Day 4:
Arriving in the early morning, you’ll be met and driven through the mountains and sculptured rice fields to the upland town of Sapa, close to Mount Fansipan, Vietnam’s highest peak, an area which is home to the traditional highland lifestyles of many of the country’s colourful ethnic minorities. You’ll travel along the valley, taking in the vistas and having a hike to Sa Seng, Ma Tra and Ta Phin villages and to visually explore their ethnic character. Later you’ll wander through the curving terraced paddy fields swirling amid the highland landscape.
Day 5:
Today, you’ll have a scenic drive to Muong Khuong for a hike through pines and terraced fields to the least visited of the Flower H’mong villages nd a local market. Later, you’ll be driven to your overnight accommodation at Cao Son Lodge.
Day 6:
Today, you’ll have a walk to Tin Thang, the most secluded of the areas villages. In the afternoon, you’ll be driven to Silaca, perched high in a lush valley and resplendent with the costumes of the Flower H’mong. You’ll then board a boat, travelling downriver to Bao Nhai and onward by car to your next overnight stop in Bac Ha.
Day 7:
This morning, you’ll take in the spectacle of Bac Ha market, before being driven through mountainous landscapes to Hoang Su Phi and Pan Hou, where you’ll spend the night.
Day 8:
Today, you’ll trek through Red Dzao and ‘Long Tunic’ Dzao villages to get views of their upland surroundings and lifestyles. After lunch with a local family, you’ll arrive at Phin Ho village, famous its Shan Tutet Tea trees, where you’ll spend the night as the guests of a local family.
Day 9:
In the morning, you’ll continue on your walking trail through the beautiful highland landscapes through bamboo forest and terraced rice paddies to a Black Tay village and on to Pan Hou village for lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll be driven to Ha Giang and check-in to your hotel.
Day 10:
This morning, you’ll visit the three small towns of Quan Ba, Yen Minh and Dong Van for their stunning backdrop vistas. Next, you’ll visit, the former palace of Vua Meo, king of the H’mong people, before travelling through the photogenic Ma Pi Leng Pass to Meo Vac, where you’ll spend the night.
Day 11:
Today, you’ll be driven to Ba Be National Park, for a stay in the parks guesthouse.
Day 12:
Today, you’ll spend the day afloat, exploring the majestic scenery of the National Park, its beautiful waterfalls, waterways and Puong Cave. After lunch, you’ll arrive at the main lake, surrounded by dense bird filled forest. In the late afternoon, you’ll disembark at a local Tay ethnic minority village for dinner and a stay in a stilt house.
Day 13:
Today, you’ll head to the coast, to board a wooden Junk for your cruise of the UNESCO World Heritage seascape Ha Long Bay, a spectacularly visual feast for the camera, visiting the natural formations of this world wonder, with visits to one of its caves, kayaking and swimming among its formations, and spending the night on board.
Day 14:
Your cruise continues, exploring a floating village and visiting a pearl farm. After disembarking at around noon, you’ll travel back to Hanoi and your hotel.
Day 15:
Today, you’ll be taken to the airport for your onward or departure flight.
