Day 1:
Arriving at Yangon International Airport, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel.
Day 2:
Today, you’ll have a guided tour of Yangon’s cultural and historic highlights, including Bogyoke Aung San Market, Sule Pagoda, Kheng Hock Keong Temple and the iconic Shwedagon Pagoda.
Day 3:
This morning, you’ll get close to the real life of the local population by boarding the Circle Train, a metropolitan commuter service. Disembarking at Insein Station for a wander around the local market. Your car will be waiting at the station to take you back to your hotel. In the afternoon, you’ll visit Kandawgyi Park and its Karaweik Floating Barge, and visit the colossal Chaukhtatgyi Reclining Buddha.
Day 4:
In the morning, you’ll catch the flight to Bagan. After a visit to Nyaung U Market, you’ll explore the vast architectural site of the ancient civilisation, contemporaneous to Sukhothai in Thailand and Angkor in Cambodia, visiting the most significant of its remains, and ending the day with a horse-drawn carriage ride among the temples.
Day 5:
An optional early morning hot air balloon ride over the sunrise scene of the ancient city provides for a truly remarkable and unforgettable experience. After breakfast, you’ll be driven south to visit Salay Monastery, Mount Popa and the temple atop the volcanic outcrop of Taung Kalat, returning to Bagan for the night.
Day 6:
This morning, you’ll catch the flight to Mandalay and your next hotel. In the afternoon, you’ll have a sightseeing tour of the city made famous by Kipling’s poem.
Day 7:
Today, you’ll be driven eastward to the former British hill station at Pyin U Lwin, which still retains much of its colonial ambience for your stay in this ‘city of flowers’.
Day 8:
After breakfast, you’ll take the scenic drive back to Mandalay, passing through Amarupara, formerly one of the country’s capitals, before continuing to Ava, another previous capital, where you’ll have a carriage ride to explore the remains. Later, you’ll visit Taungtaman Lake and sunset views of U Bien Teak Bridge.
Day 9:
In the morning, you’ll catch the flight to Heho, where you’ll be met and driven to Inle Lake, with a stop at Red Mountain Winery for lunch and wine sampling, before arriving at your lakeside hotel.
Day 10:
Today, you’ll explore the lake by boat, visiting the five day market, the produce of which is grown in the floating gardens of the stilted villages that characterise life on the lake. Later, you’ll visit the ‘forest of Stupas’ at Indein Village, and Phaung Daw U Pagoda, before returning to your hotel.
Day 11:
In the morning, you’ll visit other lakeside villages and features, to observe the local craftspeople at work, with the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 12:
In the morning, you’ll be driven to Heho airport for your flight to Thandwe, where you’ll be met and transferred to your beach resort at Ngapali.
Day 13:
Your time will be free to enjoy your beach resort in your own style.
Day 14:
Your time will be free to enjoy your beach resort in your own style.
Day 15:
In the morning, you’ll be taken to Thandwe Airport for your flight to Yangon and your onward connection or departure flight.
