Thailand Adventure Holiday 12 Days

Day 1:
Arriving at Bangkok International Airport, you’ll be welcomed to Thailand and driven to your hotel. In the evening, you’ll dine aboard a Cruise of the Chao Phraya River.
Day 2:
Today you’ll have a guided tour of the historical and cultural highlights of Thailand’s capital city, travelling by Tuk-tuk and long-tail boat along its canals.
Day 3:
This morning, you’ll visit the famous Damnern Saduak floating market aboard a long-tail boat, before heading to north to visit the town of Kanachanaburi, visiting Wat Tham Sua and the infamous ‘Bridge over the River Kwai’. Boarding a local train, you’ll ride a section of the ‘Death Railway’ built by allied prisoners during the Second World War.
Day 4:
Today, you’ll travel north of the city boundary to the former capital of Thailand, Ayutthaya, to explore the ancient UNESCO World Heritage city. You’ll also visit the former Royal summer residence at Bang Pa In, before a leisurely return to Bangkok, cruising down the Chao Phraya River.
Day 5:
In the morning, you’ll be taken to the airport for your flight to the northern city of Chaing Rai, and check-in to your hotel. Later you’ll travel to the area of intersection between the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos, once known as the ‘Golden Triangle’, visiting the Opium Museum to discover the history of this once lawless land. You’ll also visit the ruins of Chiang Saen, once a capital of the Lanna Empire. In the afternoon you’ll be able to wander the border area with Myanmar at Mae Sai, before returning to Chiang Rai and visiting the Royal Palace and Botanical Gardens.
Day 6:
Today you’ll travel to Chiang Mai, stopping at the stunningly ornate Wat Rong Khun, the highly impressive modern creation of artist Chalermchai Kosipipat and visiting the hot spring at Mae Kha Chan. After check-in to your Chiang Mai hotel, the rest of the day will be free to spend in your own style.
Day 7:
In the morning, you’ll visit the hilltop temple of Wat Prathat Doi Suthep, an impressive structure in the northern Thai style, dating back to the 14th century, which affords fine views over Chiang Mai. In the afternoon, a visit to a handicraft village will show the excellent skills of local producers of silk, woodcarvings, silverware, lacquer and the iconic colourful paper umbrellas. In the evening you’ll have a traditional Khantoke Dinner to the accompaniment of a cultural show.
Day 8:
Today, you’ll travel to the north of the city for your stay at Lisu Lodge. After a traditional welcome drink and meeting the hill tribe villagers, you’ll choose your preference of a range of activities including a cycling or ox cart tour of the area, or a relaxing stem bath or massage. Later, you’ll meet the village Shaman and learn of the beliefs and traditions of the Lisu community. In the evening you’ll have a Thai Dinner to the accompaniment of traditional Lisu dances.
Day 9:
In the morning, you’ll cycle 13 km to the river for a rafting trip and arrive at the elephant camp for an elephant ride through the mountain forest. You’ll then travel to Khum Lanna for your Thai cookery class, with instruction in the underlying flavour concepts that characterise Thai cooking. Afterwards, you’ll dine on your preparations.
Day 10:
An early wake-up will precede your sunrise cycling to Phrao morning market, before visiting a rice farm to discover the nuances of rice growing. After breakfast, you’ll learn to ride a water buffalo, before having your second cookery class, preparing dishes in the Lanna style. In the afternoon, you’ll have a choice of activities including cycling, fruit carving, candle making or herbal massage, before returning to Chiang Mai.
Day 11:
A free day at leisure in Chiang Mai.
Day 12:
Today, you’ll fly back to Bangkok for your onward connection or departure flight.

Pick-ups and transfers by private air-conditioned vehicle as specified in the itinerary above (Please note: pick-ups will be by a guide and driver or, where a guide is not necessary, a driver only. Boat cruises as specified in the programme. All boats will be fully licensed and comply with current safety regulations.

Lisu Lodge Trekking package 3 Days / 2 Nights – Join Basis

Travel in an appropriate private air-conditioned vehicle with an experienced safe driver.

The services of experienced English-speaking guides as indicated in the itinerary (please note: guides will be on hand from pick-up until guests’ return to their hotel or reaching their destination). Free days or part days will not include the services of a guide unless requested and included in the final itinerary.

Where necessary, entry fees for all visits as mentioned in the programme.

Lunches and dinners (as specified in the itinerary) in the best local restaurants, or picnics where no suitable restaurant is available.
