Day 1:
Arriving in Bangkok, you’ll be welcomed and driven to your hotel, with time to settle in before dinner in Silom Village accompanied by a performance of Thai classical dance and music.
Day 2:
In the morning, you’ll cross colourful Chinatown to begin your exploration of the city’s major sights, including the Flower Market. The Royal Palace, Wat Pho and its sleeping Buddha statue, Wat Arun and concluding with a long-tail boat ride through the canals of the Chao Phraya River.
Day 3:
Today you’ll leave modern Bangkok for the ancient capital of Ayutthaya, an inheritor, along with Sukhothai of the traditions of the Angkor Empire and in its time the most splendid of Asia’s cities, visiting its most famous structures such as Wat Phra Sri Samphet, Phra Chedi Suriyothai, Wat Ratchaburana, Wat Mahathat and Wat Yai Cha Mongkol. Later you’ll vist the former Thai Royal Summerhouse at Bang Pa In and take a leisurely cruise along the Chao Phraya River back into the heart of Bangkok.
Day 4:
After breakfast, your driver will take you to the airport for your short flight to Chiang Mai, where you’ll visit the iconic temples of the ancient Lanna Kingdom and the beautifully ornate mountaintop temple of Doi Suthep, and the superb views over Chiang Mai Valley. After check-in to your hotel, you’ll have a Kantoke Dinner, in the Lanna tradition enriched by a performance of northern folklore.
Day 5:
Today you’ll visit the handicraft villages of Borsang and Sankhampaeng, specialising in Silks, Wood carving, silver and rice paper. Later you’ll return to Chiang Mai for lunch and a guided tour of Wat Phra Sing, Wat Chedi Luang and Wat Chedi Yod.
Day 6:
After breakfast, you’ll be driven to Mae Sa Elephant Park, to watch the elephants at work and take an elephant ride through the forest. Later, a visit to Ban Tong Luang village will introduce you to the Ethnic tribes of the area and their ancestral traditions. After lunch, a bamboo raft will carry you along the scenic river to an orchid farm.
Day 7:
Your time will be free in Chiang Mai until your driver takes you to the airport for your onward or departure flight.
