Cultural Sonata 14 Days

Day 1:
Arriving at Noi Bai airport in Hanoi, you’ll be driven to your hotel, with time to relax and settle in before a performance of traditional water puppetry and your welcome dinner.

Day 2:
In the morning, a visit to Hanoi’s Fine Arts Museum and the best of its commercial galleries will introduce you to the historic and contemporary art of Vietnam. After lunch, a visit to a music studio reveals the remarkable and rare instruments used in the creation of Vietnamese music.

Day 3:
After breakfast, you’ll visit Bat Trang craft village, meeting the craftspeople and observing them creating their fine products. Later, you’ll continue to Dong Ho village, famed for its traditional paintings. After lunch, the traditional Quan Ho music is performed for you in Tam Tao village.

Day 4:
n the morning, for your class in northern Vietnamese cuisine, your chef first accompanies you to the market to choose and buy your ingredients, before creating the dishes for your lunch, with the afternoon free at leisure to enjoy the rest of the day in your own style.

Day 5:
Today, you’ll travel to the coast and your day cruise of Ha Long Bay, to enjoy the natural wonder of this breathtakingly stunning seascape.

Day 6:
Your time will be free at your Hanoi hotel, until your driver takes you to the airport for your noon flight to Hue and your next hotel. Later, you’ll visit the Hue’s Imperial Citadel, seat of power of the Nguyen Dynasty and the nearby Museum of Antiquities.

Day 7:
In the morning you’ll cruise upriver to visit Vietnam’s tallest pagoda, Thien Mu, before visiting the mausoleum of Nguyen Emperor Minh Mang. In the afternoon, you visit one of Hue’s garden houses for your class in Hue Royal cuisine, after which your feast will be served to you in the tranquillity of your surroundings.

Day 8:
A morning visit to the royal tombs of Emperors Tu Duc and Khai Dinh, is followed by an insightful afternoon tour of the surrounding handicraft villages.

Day 9:
Crossing the Hai Van Pass, you’ll leave Hue, visiting the Marble Mountains and a stone carving village, before arriving in Hoi An and check-in to your hotel.

Day 10:
After breakfast, a guided tour of the historic gem of Hoi An will explore the fascinating story of this UNESCO World Heritage town, while an afternoon cruise of the Thu Bon River visits Thanh Ho pottery village and the carpentry village of Kim Bong.

Day 11:
Your time will be free until your driver takes you to Danang airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City and your city centre hotel.

Day 12:
Today, you’ll have a guided tour of the cultural and historic highlights of the city, which includes visits to the Reunification Palace, the Fine Arts Museum, the Jade Emperor Temple and a lacquer workshop.

Day 13:
Your final cookery class at Ho Chi Minh City Cookery Centre will help you prepare five traditional dishes derived from the cuisines of all three regions of Vietnam, again visiting the market to select your ingredients and preparing your lunchtime feast, with a certificate of competence the reward of your culinary labours. In the afternoon, you’ll visit a couple of the city’s finest art galleries.

Day 14:
Your time will be at leisure until your driver takes you to the airport for your onward or departure flight.
