Chistmas Vacation 18 days

Day 1:
(December 15, 2019) Arriving at Noi Bai Airport, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel. In the evening, you’ll be driven to watch the Lang Toi show and have dinner at a good restaurant in a refurbished French colonial villa.

Day 2:
(December 16, 2019) You’ll have the whole day for a guided exploration of the highlights of Vietnam’s capital city, including the 11th century Temple of Literature,Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, The Ethnology Museum, Tran Quoc Pagoga and the Old Quarter. In the evening, you’ll be driven to the railway station for the overnight sleeper train to Lao Cai.

Day 3:
(December 17, 2019) You’ll arrive at Lao Cai in the early morning, where you’ll be met and driven up into the mountains to Sapa. After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll be driven along a scenic valley to visit some of the H’mong and Red Dao ethnic minority villages.

Day 4:
(December 18, 2019) After breakfast, your transport and guide will arrive to take you to visit Coc Ly ethnic market. After a picnic lunch, you’ll return to Lao Cai for a shower and freshen-up before boarding the sleeper train back to Hanoi.

Day 5:
(December 19, 2019) In the early morning, you’ll arrive at Hanoi railway station, where you’ll be picked up to your hotel to freshen up before breakfast. The morning will be free for Christmas shopping, or whatever takes your fancy. In the late afternoon, you’ll have time to relax in a spa centre.

Day 6:
(December 20, 2019) After an early breakfast, you’ll set off to the coast to board your cruise of Ha Long Bay and set sail into this extraordinary seascape, exploring its wonderful natural features. You’ll spend the night on board in Ha Long Bay.

Day 7:
(December 21, 2019) You’ll spend the morning continuing your cruise of Ha Long Bay, followed by brunch just before docking around noon, after which you’ll return to your Hanoi hotel.

Day 8:
(December 22, 2019) You’ll have a free morning in Hanoi before being picked up for the flight to Hue. After check-in to your hotel, you’ll visit Thien Mu Pagoda, Emperor Ming Mang’s Royal Mausoleum and Dong Ba Market.

Day 9:
(December 23, 2019) Today, you’ll have a cycle ride to visit some of the famous garden houses, and learn of their fascinating geomantic designs.

Day 10:
(December 24, 2019) This morning, you’ll be driven across the Hai Van Pass to visit Danang’s Cham Museum before continuing on to Hoi An. In the evening, you’ll partake in the celebrations at a Christmas party.

Day 11:
(December 25, 2019) Enjoy an unusual Christmas morning with a cycle ride to explore the local farms and visit the coastal fisherman, where you can try your hand at fishing in a traditional Thung Chai basket boat and enjoy a seafood lunch. After returning to Hoi An, the rest of the day will be free at leisure.

Day 12:
(December 26, 2019) Today, you’ll enjoy a free day, perhaps to explore lovely Hoi An and its beachfront.

Day 13:
(December 27, 2019) Today, you’ll have some free time before catching the flight to Ho Chi Minh City and your hotel. In the evening, you’ll have a Vespa ride around the city’s night time hotspots, enjoying the local food, drink and music.

Day 14:
(December 28, 2019) Today, you’ll have a guided exploration of Vietnam’s largest city, visiting the History Museum, Museum of War Remnants, the Jade Emperor Temple and  Binh Tay and Ben Thanh markets.

Day 15:
(December 29, 2019) This morning, you’ll travel to Vinh Long for a short cruise of the Mekong Riverfront, observing local life and visiting some of the waterside cottage industries. Later you’ll travel on to Can Tho, visiting Munir Anay Pagoda, before checking in to your hotel.

Day 16:
(December 30, 2019) Today, you’ll again get afloat upon the Mekong River to visit Cai Rang Floating Market and imbibe its lively bustle. Later you’ll be driven back to Ho Chi Minh City, with a stop off at Vinh Trang Pagoda.

Day 17:
(December 31, 2019) Your day will be free to enjoy in your own style. In the evening, you’ll be able to take part in the Gala New Year Dinner Party.
Day 18:
(January 1, 2020) Your time will be free until your driver arrives to transfer you to the airport for your departure flight.

Breakfast and accommodation in twin or double rooms

Pick-ups and transfers by private air-conditioned vehicle as specified in the itinerary above (Please note: pick-ups will be by a guide and driver or, where a guide is not necessary, a driver only. All unaccompanied drivers will be briefed in advance, and will carry a mobile phone to ensure smooth transfer arrangements)

Domestic flight ticket in Vietnam: Hanoi – Hue and Danang – Ho Chi Minh City, including domestic airport taxes.

Return train tickets: Hanoi – Lao Cai:

(For Superior & Mid-range standards: air-conditioned soft four-berth cabin, good local standard in Fanxipan Express Train carriage

(For Deluxe & First Class standards: air-conditioned soft four-berth superior cabin - ‘Victoria’ carriage)

Boat cruise as programme. For Ha Long Bay, you’ll join other passengers on a high quality wooden boat with comfortable accommodation, good facilities and an experienced crew. The boat will be fully licensed and comply with current safety regulations.

The use of bicycles as specified in the itinerary

Travel in an appropriate private air-conditioned vehicle with an experienced safe driver.

The services of experienced English-speaking guides as indicated in the itinerary (please note: guides will be on hand from pick-up until guests’ return to their hotel or reaching their destination). Free days or part days will not include the services of a guide unless requested and included in the final itinerary.

Where necessary, entry fees for all visits as mentioned in the programme.

Lunches and dinners (as specified in the itinerary) in the best local restaurants, or picnics where no suitable restaurant is available.
