Cycling the Back Roads of Vietnam 14 Days

TOUR PROGRAMME

Day 1:
Arriving at Noi Bai airport in Hanoi, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel, with time to relax before your welcome dinner and an evening performance of traditional water puppetry

Day 2:
In the morning, you’ll head out to the coast for your cruise of the natural wonder of Ha Long Bay, sailing around the majestic seascape, visiting its most intriguing features and spending the night afloat in the bay.

Day 3:
Your cruise continues through Ha Long Bay until landfall around noon, where you’ll me met and driven to Hanoi airport fort your flight to historic Hue, in central Vietnam, to begin your cycle adventure.

Day 4:
In the morning, you’ll cycle from your hotel through rural villages to Thanh Toan Bridge, looping back to the city, with a visit to the Ngoc Son Princess Garden House. After lunch, you’ll cycle to visit more of Hue’s famous Garden Houses at Phu Mong Kim Long village and Thien Mu Pagoda, crossing the river to visit a handicraft village before returning to Hue and the end of your day’s 40km cycle. In the evening you’ll dine in one of the Garden Houses.

Day 5:
Today you’ll be driven to the coast to begin your 80km of cycling, travelling from Thuan An beach to the end of the peninsula, where a local ferry will take you across the Perfume River estuary, and onward until you reach Highway 1, where you’ll be driven to the start of the days three hill climbs, with a break at Lang Co beach before tackling the final climb over the Hai Van Pass and the reward of its fine views. After your cycle, you’ll be driven to the ancient town of Hoi An and your hotel.

Day 6:
This morning, you’ll set of for your 35km ride to the ancient Cham ruins at My Son, visiting a fishing village and a local market and a break at Bara bridge. Arriving at the UNESCO World Heritage site, you’ll have a guided tour of the pre-Vietnamese remains, efore being driven back to Hoi An, with the rest of the day free to spend in your own style.

Day 7:
A drive along Highway 1 brings you to Quang Ngai, where you’ll check-in to your hotel, before beginning today’s 47km cycle ride, passing through country lanes to coastal fishing villages before the uphill ascent of Thien An mountain, to enjoy the views and a visit to its pagoda, before the descent to the site of the infamous Mai Lai Massacre conducted by the Americans in 1968. After a picnic lunch at the beach, you’ll return to Quang Ngai.

Day 8:
Today, you’ll have a more challenging 73km cycle, occasionally over rough surfaces, on small provincial roads, following the coast southwards from Binh Duong, through Tung Giang to Tuy Phuoc and on to Quy Nhon and your hotel.

Day 9:
In the morning, you’ll be driven beyond Quy Nhon and away from the main highway to begin your 67km ride to Nha Trang along an isolated road through gently rolling terrain along the highland foothills, passing through delightful village community scenes, before your cycling ends at the point of convergence with the main highway. You’ll have a stop at Dai Lanh beach during the drive to Nha Trang.

Day 10:
Travelling to the outskirts of Nha Trang, you’ll begin today’s 80km cycle southward towards Cam Ranh until you meet the highway, where you’ll be transferred by car to Ca Na for lunch and remount your cycle at Luong Son for the gently undulating ride to the ocean dunes at Mui Ne, and arrival at your hotel.

Day 11:
Enjoy some well-earned rest and relaxation in your own style at your Mui Ne beach resort.

Day 12:
Your time will be free at leisure.

Day 13:
Your time will be free at leisure.

Day 14:
Your time will be free until your driver takes you to Ho Chi Minh City for your onward or departure flight.
