Vietnam Mountain Biking and Scuba Diving 14 Days

TOUR PROGRAMME

Day 1:
Arriving at Noi Bai airport in Hanoi, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel, with time to settle in and relax before your welcome dinner and a performance of traditional water puppetry.
Day 2:
An adventurous day’s exploration on the back of a motorbike will take you around the viewpoints, cultural and historic highlights of Vietnam’s capital, and a ‘street life’ exploration of the old quarter and its food stalls.
Day 3:
In the morning, you’ll travel to the coast, to board your cruise junk to explore the surreal limestone structures of Ha Long Bay, during which you’ll have the opportunity to swim and kayak around the rocky islets and into the sea-level caves, staying on board overnight.
Day 4:
Your cruise of Ha Long Bay continues in the morning, kayaking some of its little-visited islands, before heading back to the mainland, docking around noon, when you’ll be transferred back to Hanoi, with time to freshen up and dine, before boarding the overnight sleeper train to Lao Cai.
Day 5:
Arriving at Lao Cai early in the morning, you’ll be met and driven by jeep to visit a market frequented by an interesting mix of ethnic minorities. After a picnic lunch, you’ll journey into the mountains to Sapa in the shadow of Mt. Fansipan, Vietnam’s highest peak, and check-in to your hotel.
Day 6:
After breakfast, you’ll mount your mountain bike for traveling the winding road that runs along Mu Hoa valley, through the rice paddies and distinct ethnic villages, stopping for lunch in a Tay minority house in the village of Thanh Phu. A largely uphill afternoon ride will bring you to the Red Dao minority village of Sin Chai, where you’ll stay overnight in a bamboo hut. Total cycling: 40km (30 km downhill and 10 km uphill).
Day 7:
A gentler 15km of cycling through the northern countryside will visit a Xa Pho minority community, one of Vietnam’s smallest ethic groups, on the route to Ban Ho, from where you’ll be driven back to Sapa, and later, to Lao Cai for the return sleeper train to Hanoi.
Day 8:
Arriving in Hanoi, you’ll be driven to your hotel, with the rest of the day free to recover from your highland exertions in your own style. In the morning, you’ll be driven to the airport for your noon flight to Nha Trang, where you’ll be met and driven to your hotel. After check-in you’ll have an excursion to Ponaga Cham Tower and Thao Ba Hot springs, to relax in the Mud baths and mineral water pools.
Day 9:
Today a private boat cruise will visit some of the small islands of Nha Trang Bay, including Mun Island, for a glass-bottom basket boat over the corals, Tam Island for swimming or beach relaxation, and Mieu Island to visit Tri Nguyen Aqarium.
Day 10:
In the morning the Whale Island Resort minibus will pick you up at your hotel for the boat transfer to Whale Island for your stay at the basic but pleasant hideaway resort, with the rest of the day free to enjoy the facilities in your own style.
Day 11:
Your time will be free at the resort to relax or enjoy scuba diving, sailboarding or snorkelling.
Day 12:
Your time will be free at leisure.
Day 13:
Your time will be free at leisure.
Day 14:
Today, the Whale Island Resort staff will transfer you to Nha Trang for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City and your onward or departure flight.
