Vietnam North And South 21 Days

TOUR PROGRAMME

Day 1:
Arriving at Hanoi Airport, your car will be ready to take you to your hotel in the city. After settling in, a performance of traditional water puppetry is followed by a welcome dinner.

Day 2:
A full day discovering the wonderful sights and sounds of Vietnam’s capital city, its history and important landmarks.

Day 3:
An easy-going 7 kilometre cycle ride from Bat Trang along the riverside gives a pleasurable flavour of the countryside and livelihoods of the villages surrounding Hanoi. After your cycle, you’ll visit the villages of Dong Ho, Dong Ky and Tam Dao to observe the villagers at their crafts.

Day 4:
An early rise will see you heading for the dramatic coastline for a cruise of Ha Long Bay and its vast naturally sculpted forms, staying on board overnight.

Day 5:
Your cruise continues until around noon as you return to the mainland and back to Hanoi with a chance to relax before boarding the overnight sleeper train to Lao Cai, close to the border with China.

Day 6:
Upon your morning arrival at Lao Cai, you’ll visit a local ethnic market and have a picnic lunch before winding through the mountains toward Vietnam’s highest peak and the town of Sapa.

Day 7:
Your sojourn through the curvaceous rice paddies and beautiful landscapes continues with treks to visit the ethnic villages of the H’mong, Giay, Dzao and Tay minorities, with picnic lunches in picturesque scenery, and a pleasant overnight stay and dining in an ethnic house.

Day 8:
You will continue trekking the upland world of Vietnam's minority cultures, staying at a local house

Day 9:
Today, your highland exploration concludes, eventually returning to Sapa and on to Lao Cai for the overnight sleeper back to Hanoi.

Day 10:
A free day at leisure in Hanoi.

Day 11:
Following the short flight to Hue you’ll check-in to your hotel and visit the Imperial Citadel of Vietnam’s emperor period, followed by an experience of Don Ba Market and an evening dinner in the unique ambience of one of the famous Garden Houses.

Day 12:
A cruise of the Perfume River brings you to the waterside sanctuary of Thien Mu Pagoda, after which you’ll visit the royal tombs of the former Vietnamese Emperors and the beautiful Garden Houses.

Day 13:
A morning drive with high views over the Hai Van pass and a visit to Danang’s Cham museum are the highlights of the journey to the lovely ancient town of Hoi An. After checking in, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage area.

Day 14:
A morning visit to another UNESCO site, the nearby ruins of the ancient Cham civilisation affords an insight into this early pre-Vietnamese heritage, with the remainder of the day free at your leisure in Hoi An.

Day 15:
After breakfast, you’ll fly to Vietnam’s southern capital, Ho Chi Minh City, formally known as Saigon during the French colonial period, and check-in to your hotel.

Day 16:
A thorough guided exploration of Ho Chi Minh City and its many sights and attractions.

Day 17:
Travelling beyond the city, a cruise upon the Mekong River reveals the fascinating local lifestyles and cottage industries unfolding among the fields and orchards of the Delta area. Later, a visit to the Khmer style Munir Ansay Pagoda will bring you to the riverside town of Can Tho and check-in to your hotel.

Day 18:
In the morning, you’ll get waterborne for an unforgettable experience of Cai Rang floating market, and its lively flotilla of trading vessels, the brimming hub of rural Mekong commerce. Returning to Can Tho, the remainder of the day is free at your leisure.

Day 19:
The return journey to Ho Chi Minh City visits the beautiful hybrid architecture of the Buddhist temple of Vinh Trang Pagoda, near the delta town of My Tho, renowned for its statuary and fine carvings.

Day 20:
A morning visit to the Cao Dai Holy See, is followed by a visit to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, a relic of Vietnam’s ‘American’ War and the remarkable hidden underground network from which the Vietcong would launch surprise attacks.

Day 21:
our time will be free until your transfer to Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat airport and your departure flight.
