Malaysia's Colonial Echoes 9 days

Arriving at Changi Airport in Singapore, you’ll be met and driven across the Johor causeway onto the Malay Peninsula and through Malaysian Customs formalities, before heading up to Malacca, and check-in to your hotel.
Day 2:
A guided tour of Malacca delves into the complex web of colonial conflicts for the control of trade that dominated the early period of the city, and the subtle influences of the indigenous inhabitants which shaped the Malacca of today, with visits to the main historical and cultural places of interest.
Day 3:
In the morning, you’ll be driven northward to the Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur, and your next hotel. After some time to get settled, you’ll have a tour of the highlights of the city, an interesting mix of grand colonial hybrid architecture, epitomised by the Sultan Abdul Samed Building and the delightful railway station harmoniously sharing space with the ambitious themes of modern Islamic design, evident in the twin Petronas Towers and superlative mosques.
Day 4:
After breakfast, you’ll be driven to the northern fringe of the city, to the spectacular Batu Caves, and the Hindu shrine within. Later you’ll visit the Royal Selangor Pewter Centre, before returning to the city centre, with the remainder of your day free at your leisure.
Day 5:
In the morning, you’ll travel into the cooler peaceful air of the Cameron Highlands, the centre of Malaysian Tea and its associated British colonial legacy, arriving at the town of Tanah Rata, and your hotel.
Day 6:
Today, you’ll visit a tea plantation to discover the processes involved in producing fine teas, with an opportunity to sample the various teas in the teahouse. Later, you’ll visit the rose garden and butterfly farm as well as a local fruit and vegetable market before returning to your hotel.
Day 7:
Today you’ll descend back to the tropical heat, travelling northward to Penang, stopping at Kuala Kangsar to visit the splendid Ubudiah Mosque and the former Sultan’s palace. Later, another stop at Bukit Mera Laketown Resort affords the opportunity to meet Malaysia’s most iconic creatures on Orang Utan Island, before reaching the coast and travelling over the 13 km bridge to Penang and your Georgetown hotel.
Day 8:
Today, you’ll have a guided tour of the historic and cultural attractions in Penang, including Fort Cornwallis, the Koo Kongsi Clan House, Wat Chayamangkalaram and its reclining Buddha, Pinang Peranakan Mansion, the ‘lost’ fortress, and investigate the unique Peranakan culture.
Day 9:
Your time will be free until your driver takes you to the airport for your flight to Kuala Lumpur and your connecting onward or departure flight.
